Joe Cabral is Walnut Hill’s Director of Theater.  Mr. Cabral is a trustee member of the Massachusetts High School Drama Guild, Inc., and a member of the National Educational Theater Association. He worked professionally in theater, film, and television until 1985. Prior to coming to Walnut Hill in 1994, his productions consistently won multiple awards at the state level, including the championship for Massachusetts High School Drama in 1992 and 1994. Mr. Cabral's work at Walnut Hill has been twice recognized by the American High School Theater Festival (AHSTF), a national competition for secondary school theater. Walnut Hill was invited by AHSTF to represent United States at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Mr. Cabral has also directed productions at The Norwood Theatre and Boston University.

Each year he is an artist-in-residence at West High School in Torrance, CA and teaches master classes at the Independent Theatre Workshop in Dublin, Ireland and The Thornton Wilder and Fermanagh Schools in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.
